"What is class like?" (Glad you asked me!)

Instructional classes are 1 hour with a 15 minute warm-up and 10 minute cool-down. Bellyrobics classes are 1 hour with a 10 minute warm-up and 5 minute cool-down. All classes are $15 per class or $50 for 4 ($12.50 each) if paid in advance.

Beginning classes include a brief introduction to the history of bellydancing. Classes focus on proper posture, basic steps and muscle isolation including exercises to increase flexibility and building strength & stamina targeting the thighs, gluts and the muscles of the abdomen, The basic rhythms of Baledi and Chiftitelli are used. As the class progresses zils, veil, and choreography are introduced.

Intermediate classes build on beginning steps with variations & combinations and music interpretation & mood including identification of instruments and advanced rhythms. The use of stage & floor patterns is introduced including other props such as cane and sword.

Advanced classes concentrate on complex combination steps and developing the individual’s style.

Bellyrobics uses bellydance moves and steps as an exercise and movement class more than an instructional dance class. It is an excellent class for those wanting to sweat and practice drills and combinations.
